The leader of Boko Haram terror sect Abubakar Shekau is ready to appear before the Senate in his Boko Haram uniform but the Senate is refusing to summon him.

The issue of appearing before senate has become a topic in Nigeria. In recent weeks, the senate has authoritatively summonsed people to appear before it on trivial issues.

Last week, the topic of discussion in the Nigerian media was the senate's insistance that custom's boss Rtd Col Hameed Ali, must appear before them in full customs uniform. The issue heated the polity for the entire week.

By their insistence on Col. Hameed Ali putting on the customs uniform before appearing before them, the senate forgot and neglected the real reason for inviting the customs boss, which was to explain and shed more light on why Nigerians must pay vehicle duty for cars that are already within the country. Rather they concentrated on the Uniform issue which was of no national interest.

Similarly, the senate, last week Wednesday summoned Professor Sagay, the head of anti corruption fight committee to appear before it, he however turned down the invitation, refusing to appear before them claiming they had no authority to summon him.

On the other hand, the leader of Boko Haram sect has sought to be summoned by the senate to clarify issues of national interest but they have failed to invite him. Shekau is supposed to appear before the senate and explain to Nigerians why he has persistently carried out attacks, bombarding towns and cities, destroying properties worth millions of naira, killing innocent people and rendering thousands homeless in IDP camps.

Former senate leader Ali Ndume of Borno State was yesterday suspended for 6 months following recommendations by the senate committee on ethics and privileges.

Certainly, Senator Ali Ndume will fight back, he will disclose some hidden things about the upper chamber, the way and manner Abdulmuminu Jibril did in the lower chamber. Which was all in vain.

Like his fellow colleagues in the sanate, Ali Ndume is part and parcel of the caucus, who care less for their constituents and show very little representation for them . He sees no ill with what the senates does, same as Abdulmuminu Jibril.

Jibril has now vanished into thin air since after the padding allegations against Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other principal officers of the House of Representatives.

We await his bombshell. He will make noise and be silenced soon. It's hypocrisy and egocentric representation.

David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is down with an undisclosed illness. The Omo Baba Olowo crooner shared the poor state of the his health via his Snapchat and fans have been praying for his quick recovery.

It would be recalled that few weeks ago, the singer was battling the media over the reports that he allegedly abandoned his 2 years old daughter and baby mama.

Davido denied the claims, as he revealed  a DNA test was done, which showed, he was not the biological father of the baby.

A three-year-old boy,  Abubakar Usman, whose eyes were gouged out in January by suspected ritualists in Zaria, Kaduna state, Nigeria, has been enrolled in a school.

The school, according to reports, will cater to the special needs of the boy.

Abubakar was on his way to evening Islamiyya class with his brother, Umar, when unidentified individuals took him to an uncompleted building and gouged his eyes out, a report by Nigeria’s Daily Trust said.

He was later found writhing in pain and covered in blood.

Syringes and needles, as well as some substances believed to have been used by the suspected ritualists in removing the eyes of the boy, were also found at the scene, the report said.

Abubakar was reportedly rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), where doctors confirmed that he would no longer be able to see.

The boy is said to have cried at the hospital, telling those around him to open his eyes to enable him see his mother and grandmother. “Open my eyes, I want to see Mama. Mama, where are you? Where’s Grandma?” he was quoted as saying.

According to the report, other children who were with Abubakar before he was taken away, said one of the suspected ritualists had introduced himself as his uncle.

Church turns into beer bar after every Sunday mass

In Brielen, a small Belgian village of only 700 inhabitants, it was customary for church goers to meet up for a beer after every Sunday mass.

That became a problem after the last bar in the village closed down, but the local priest was more than happy to keep the tradition going by turning the church into a bar after Sunday mass.

Some say alcohol is the devil’s drink, but a Protestant church in Brielen, Belgium, is using it to keep parishioners happy and bring more people closer to God.

After the last  bar in town closed, church goers who used to get together every Sunday after mass for a cold glass of beer were forced to either abandon their tradition or travel to neighboring villages. It was a sad end to a very popular custom, but the local priest saw it as an opportunity to do something good for his flock and attract more people to church.

After asking the permission of local authorities, the priest announced that every Sunday, after mass, congregates were more than welcome to use the church as a bar and drink as much beer as they like, just like they used to before. He even had an actual bar set up in the church and, as soon as he ends his sermon, wooden chairs and tables with white table cloths are brought out to make the people feel like they’re in their old pub.

Parishioners can drink as much beer as they like, but the priest has set a few clear rules. The most important one is that you have to attend the mass in order to be allowed into the bar. This helps the church better fulfill its purpose of bringing people closer to religion, and people get their bar experience back. Everybody wins!

To keep the church from turning into a place of debauchery, music and dancing are forbidden, and patrons must leave before 1:00 in the afternoon. This gives them enough time to drink plenty of beer, but not enough to get too drunk.

Why I was kidnapped twice – Mr Ibu

Popular Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has disclosed why he was kidnapped on two occasions.

Mr Ibu said he had been kidnapped more than once, noting that he became a regular customer of kidnappers.

The comic actor said he was abducted twice because the kidnappers thought he was rich, adding that he would no longer show off on social media platforms to avoid being kidnapped again.

Speaking on The Gist show aired by Hiptv, Mr. Ibu disclosed that he chose to exhibit a modest lifestyle on and off the TV because of his past ordeals in the hands of kidnappers.

He said, “They say our job is about packaging but that does not apply to some of us again.

“Packaging no longer matters in the entertainment industry because of the fear of kidnappers, who could be made to believe that we are rich as being paraded on the screen.”

Brewery uses recycled toilet water to make beer

San Diego-Based Stone Brewing, the ninth-largest brewery in the United States, recently unveiled its newest creation – a pale ale brewed using recycled water that “comes from the toilet.”

Aptly named ‘Full Circle’, the unique beer is made with 100% recycled waste water from the Pure Water demonstration plant in Miramar.

Chief brewer Steve Gonzalez admits being skeptical about using recycled water to make beer and asking for analysis results before even considering it, but says that Full Circle turned out to be one of his best works yet, probably in the top three pale ales he’s ever brewed.

Pat Tiernan, COO of Stone Brewing, says that, despite what people may think, the recycled waste water used to create Full Circle is actually better than what the brewery uses now. Also in the context of California’s long drought, having a reliable alternative to natural water is also a very big deal.

Gonzalez said that the recycled water used to make Full Circle needed only the addition of some salts to be perfect for brewing.

As for the other ingredients, he used three malts and three different hops, including two exotic ones from New Zealand which give the pale ale a tropical note. The chief brewer added that, in contrast with the source of the water used for Full Circle, it is a “very clean tasting beer”.

“[I thought] that it would have an off taste or be something different to it … it’s outstanding,” taster Shane Trussell told KGTV.

“It is fantastic,” San Diego Mayor, Kevin Faulconer, added. “There’s no better way to highlight the purity of this water.”

A French mother is offering to hire out her breasts to gay couples are unable to breast-feed their own babies.

The 29-year-old nurse is advertising her services as a health benefit to newborns - and demands €20 (£17) an hour for the feeding sessions.

And while her unorthodox offer may seem like a practical joke, she insists she is deadly serious and demands that any potential customers must be too.

The classified advert was posted on e-loue, a website offering goods and services for rent, by a user calling herself 'cecilia232' who lives in the Parisian suburb of Boulogne.

It reads: 'I am a young mother in good health, a trained nurse aged 29, and I am renting my breasts to suckle newborns. In one day, I can offer your baby up to a dozen feeds.

 The bizarre offer comes in the wake of widespread controversy in France over the legalisation of same-sex marriage and gay adoption.

Francois Hollande's Socialist government passed a gay-rights bill last year, but was met by opposition from traditionalists.

The new law came into effect earlier this year, offering the chance of a lucrative new market for those involved in the business of weddings and childbirth - an opportunity eagerly seized by 'cecilia232'.

Although some may be sceptical as to the sincerity of her advert, e-loue told French website Terrafemina that they had contacted her and ascertained that she was not joking.

Apparently she has already received two requests for her services.

Wet-nursing, the practice of mothers handing their babies over to other women for breast-feeding, used to be relatively common, particularly among wealthy families.

The tradition still continues in some developing countries, but has been almost entirely abandoned in the West thanks to the development of formula milk for babies whose mothers are unable to breast-feed.

Women Are Now Using 'Sex' To Pay For Plumbers, Car Mechanics In Russia

Women are now using sex to pay for plumbers, car mechanics and other labourers in Russia because of 'falling income levels' and the country's economic struggles.

According to a report on DailyMail, residents are being offered the chance to exchange their services - including the installation of new furniture and dog-walking - for sex.

One Siberian news outlet reported:

'Due to the economic crisis, sex is used to pay for traditional services. There even are special online communities for this purpose.'

One such community in Buryatia region, on the shore of Lake Baikal, claims that it is intended for 'mutually beneficial encounters. It states:

'Here you can swap services for sex. And, as well, offer sex for a service. If you need a service or goods, but you can't or don't want to spend money on it, you can do something.'

One male advertiser offered to carry out home repairs in return for sex. He boasted:

'You get both pleasure - and renovation.'

A female posted:

 'Looking for a man who can do the wiring in my flat. 2 rooms. Sex 2-3 times in return. Anonymous. Girl, 26.'

Nine men responded offering their services.

Elsewhere, a 23-year-old woman offered a date in exchange for new furniture.

'Will meet with a guy in exchange for a new sofa. Girl, 23. If you want, 'like'. Anonymous.' Her posting had 21 'likes'. 

In another case, Artur Konstantinov, from the regional capital Ulan-Ude, offered to deliver and stack 'dry logs' as firewood, to be paid according to the 'conditions of the community', namely with sex instead of money.

Last month, a man named Dmitry Trifonov advertised 'all sorts of services - electrical wiring, putting together furniture, fixing home appliances, setting up PC, plumbing! Message me!'

Another, Alexey Drobysh, offered taxi rides in the city in exchange for sex. Others offered to help homeowners move house under the same terms.

Texas bill would fine men $100 each time they masturbate

A Texas lawmaker has proposed a bill that would fine a man $100 each time he masturbates.

The bill also imposes a 24-hour waiting period if a guy wants a colonoscopy or a vasectomy, or if he's in the market for some Viagra.

Rep. Jessica Farrar, a Democrat, knows her bill isn't going to get very far. But she proposed it last week to make a point and give male lawmakers a taste of their own medicine.

Farrar has long been an advocate of women's health in a state that has made it extremely difficult for women to get abortions. And the bill, by pointing out a sexist double standard, is meant to shine a light on the obstacles women deal with when it comes to their health care.

"Let's look at what Texas has done to women," Farrar told CNN. "What if men had to undergo the same intrusive procedures?"

Even the name is a jab

Farrar's bill would penalize men for masturbation because such behavior is a failure to preserve the sanctity of life and "an act against an unborn child."

Even the bill's name -- "A Man's Right to Know Act" -- is a jab at a pamphlet Texas doctors are required to give women seeking abortions.

That pamphlet, "A Woman's Right to Know," has long been criticized for being inaccurate, ideologically influenced by religion and designed to discourage women from getting abortions.

One section of the pamphlet says breast cancer and abortions are linked. Scientific studies have found no cause-and-effect relationship between the two.

"We have real lives to deal with," said Farrar, who pointed out that Texas has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world.

And she's right — the rate of women who died from pregnancy-related complications doubled from 2010 to 2014, according to a recent study.

Backlash from political opponents

Republicans have lashed out at Farrar's bill.

"I'm embarrassed for Representative Farrar. Her attempt to compare to the abortion issue shows a lack of a basic understanding of human biology," said Rep. Tony Tinderholt in a statement.

"I would recommend that she consider taking a high school biology class from a local public or charter school before filing another bill on the matter."

Tinderholt recently proposed a bill that would charge abortion providers and women receiving abortions with murder.

Access to abortions in Texas

Texas has quite a one-two punch to keep women from getting abortions. One: strict laws. Two: Lack of clinics.

Texas doesn't allow abortions for women past the 20-week mark unless their life is endangered. Under this law, women who are pregnant with an unviable fetus are forced to carry to term. Additionally, women must receive state-directed counseling, must have an ultrasound and a provider must describe the image of the unborn child to the woman.

As of 2014, some 96% of Texas counties had no clinics that provided abortions, and roughly 43% of women lived in those counties, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

And since 2014 the number of facilities providing abortions in Texas has plummeted from 44 to18 after the state passed restrictions on abortion doctors and clinics. The restrictions were eventually struck down by the Supreme Court, but the damage was done.

Today, Texas women can only get abortions in seven cities and an entire swath of the state -- the panhandle and much of west Texas -- is an abortion clinic desert.

Fake prophet rapes church member at knife point

A self-syled Nkayi prophet allegedly raped a woman at knife point inside a church after “prophesying” that her relatives were making her sleep with a monkey, a court heard yesterday.

Cuthbert Dube, 32, allegedly told the 23-year-old victim that her womb was damaged as a result of the supernatural intercourse. When he saw that his words were not having an effect, Dube allegedly abandoned the word of God and grabbed the woman.

The court heard how he dragged her into Agape Church where he produced a knife that he used to threaten the woman before raping her. He was arrested the following day at his homestead where scores of women were queuing to receive “holy anointing” from him.

The woman’s sister-in-law identified him as the man who had passed by their homestead asking for water to drink, a day before he raped the woman. Dube appeared before regional magistrate Chrispen Mberewere yesterday and pleaded not guilty to rape.

He told magistrate Mberewere that he did not know the woman and had travelled out of the village on the day the woman alleged she was raped. The victim took to the stand as the first State witness and told the court that Dube followed her on a narrow pathway leading to the Agape Church.

“As I was about to pass the church gate, I saw Dube and he greeted me and immediately went into a trance.

“He started prophesying that my relatives were forcing me to sleep with a monkey and that my womb had problems,” said the woman.

“As I drew closer to him, he grabbed me and took me inside the church, leaving his bicycle outside. I screamed and he took out a knife and threatened to kill me if I made any noise.”

The woman said Dube forced her to lie down and undressed her.

“He then raped me once and told me to continue with my journey. When I got home I notified my sister-in-law,” she said.

Another witness told the court that Dube was arrested while prophesying on a number of women.

“When he saw us coming, he produced a knife but we managed to apprehend him.

“He admitted to raping her and asked us to not assault him as he was ready to compensate her family with a beast,” he said.

“We took him to the police station and asked him to identify the woman he had raped and he pointed at the victim.

“Other villagers even told us that Dube was very dangerous but we managed to subdue him.”

In his defence, Dube maintained that he did not know any of the witnesses and denied prophesying on anyone. He asked the rape victim why she stopped to listen to a prophecy from someone she did not know.

Magistrate Mberewere remanded him in custody to May 28. Trust Muduma for the state told the court that on March 24 at around 12noon, the woman was on her way to Tsheli Business Centre to purchase airtime recharge cards.

Muduma said she met Dube who grabbed her and produced a knife threatening to stab her if she resisted. He said Dube dragged her into the church and raped her once. After the sexual assault, the court heard, Dube threatened to kill the woman if she revealed the matter to anyone.

The woman reported the matter to police the following day and was referred to hospital for medical examination.

Shocking-man fined for beating wife for sharing lipstick with local hooker

A local man who beat up his wife before attempting to tear off a marriage certificate to punish her for associating with friend suspected to be a hooker, has been fined $50.

Remember Sithole slapped his wife Cathrine Sithole after finding her standing with a woman he said is a well-known lady of the night. The two were sharing and applying lipstick in front of the couple’s house.

An infuriated Sithole battered the wife before entering the house where he took their marriage certificate and a pair of scissors intending to cut it into pieces.

The woman was however swift as she quickly brought in cops from a nearby police base who arrested her husband and charged him with physical abuse. Sithole pleaded guilty to physical abuse when he appeared before magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa.

He said he was incensed when he found the two together and thought of tearing their marriage certificate to end the bond because he was tired of chastising her against associating with the woman.

“I couldn’t stand the sight of always seeing my wife associate with a hooker. On this day they were sharing lip stick and so I slapped her out of anger,” said Sithole.

The magistrate fined him $50 for the offence.

An additional two-months-jail term was wholly suspended for five years on condition he doesn’t commit a similar crime within that period. Particulars of the case as presented by prosecutor Listen Nare were that on New Year’s Eve, Sithole arrived home at night and found his wife with the suspected hooker.

He got angry and started assaulting her. The court heard that an argument ensued between the two resulting in Sithole further assaulting his wife.

“The accused then left in a hush and went inside the house. His wife followed behind and as she stepped in, he was holding their marriage certificate and a pair of scissors intending to cut it,” said the prosecutor.

Sensing more danger from the infuriated husband, the woman bolted out of the house to a nearby police base where she came back with cops who immediately arrested her husband for physical abuse.

Sithole hadn’t cut the marriage certificate.

Farting husband punched and booted out of bed by angry wife

A Mpumalanga woman has been arrested after she thoroughly beat up her husband as punishment for farting in bed. Fikile Nyamane claimed that he was elbowed by his wife Nompumelelo after she woke up because of his persistent farting.

The enraged woman saddled her sleepy spouse and started punching, scratching and kicking him. Fikile fell out of bed and the fight erupted, leaving Fikile with deep scratches up to 20cm long across his chest and his wife with her lip split open.

Then Mpumelelo hid in the bathroom and even dispersed pepper-spray to keep her husband out of the room.

But somehow Fikile managed to restrain his infuriated wife and called the police. The woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

While the majority of domestic violence victims are women, abuse of men happens far more often than people used to think.

It takes many of the same forms as it does against women: physical violence, intimidation and threats, se_xual, psychological, verbal and financial abuse, property damage etc.

Lady Who Keeps Guns For Her Criminal Boyfriend Arrested In Cross Rivers (Photos)

25-year-old Ms. Hope Usang, has been arrested after being linked to arms leased out to robbers in Cross River State. The female armourer was arrested alongside 21 others by the Cross River State Police Command, after a robbery victim, Paschal Bisong of Ekpeyong Effiok street in Calabar Municipality, laid a complaint.

The Cross River State Police Commissioner, Hafiz Inuwa, who spoke to newsmen said

his men swung into action immediately, arresting Emmanuel Edet-Etim and Idoreyin Usa, who confessed they got their arms from Usang.

 “In our efforts to build a safe Cross River, we must not tolerate any form of arms proliferation. On February 24, following a report by one Paschal Bisong of a robbery attack, my men swung into action, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Emmanuel Edet-Etim and Idoreyin Usa. 

“The suspects confessed that one Hope Usang supplied them with arms for the robbery. When my men stormed Usang’s house, they recovered three revolvers, four rounds of ammunition, one pistol, one locally-made pistol among others" he said.

Usang, who spoke to a Vanguard correspondent, claimed the  gun belonged to her boyfriend who is a student; “The guns belong to my boyfriend, a student. I never knew that he was keeping some guns in my house.” However when asked to name her boyfriend, she refused.

Prophets out-do each other claiming all sorts of miracles to gain a following but one man has pulled the big card and claimed to be God. Yes, God.

At the age of 27 Given Dube is addressed as “God” by his followers at Umuzi ka Nkulunkulu  (House of god) Church in Pumula South. According to his congregants who spoke separately, the Holy Spirit descended on him.

“If I give you a cup full of Coca-Cola, will you say I gave you a cup or you simply say you have been given a coke?

Dube is god because god’s spirit is in him,” said one of the staunch followers, Wellington Siwela. His claims have been challenged by some who have attended his church in the past because he lacks finesse.

“What kind of god insults his people? Go and see for yourself,” said one of the former worshippers.

When B-Metro sat for an interview with the alleged god, he was laid back and spoke with confidence. He alternated between being the human being Given saying “I”  but in other instances he would say “we” as if representing a movement, and he said it was because he was god’s host, and as a result one with him hence the use of the plural “we”.

“I am being used by a spirit which I cannot even see. I only saw it in a vision once when it first appeared to me in 2008 when I was in Chipinge for National Youth Service training.

“Since then, god speaks to me and I hear his voice and that spirit uses me. For people to believe me I write everything down and that is the holy book referred to as Uluju Lwezulu,” he said.

He punctuates the conversation with constant claims of him being god who created heaven and earth and has power over all creation. As if that is not enough, even in their holy book (seen by B-Metro)  it is indicated that it was written by god himself and it guides them in their daily lives.

“I am god and do not need anyone to explain my word. I have written this book and it guides people in their daily lives.

“When Jesus came to earth, not all people listened to him and he was even killed. Now I have come, some have listened and I will guide them,” said the soft spoken Dube.

When asked whether he could prophesy, he plainly stated that as god, everything was always planned by him and all he just did was command and things happen.

“I am the god and I plan. I just command and it happens. You also have to understand that I don’t expect everyone to see me as their god, but they first have to accept the word and understand, so only church members recognise me as their god,” he said.

The other issue which has caused much controversy at Umuzi kaNkulunkulu Church is Dube’s sexual orientation and whether he will ever marry.

“There are some people who misquoted me after asking whether as god I will ever get married. My answer to the man was ‘Kukhululekile ukuthi thina singenza amacansi’ (Is it okay for us to have sex). He literally took it that it was directed at him while in actual fact whenever I talk I say “we” as in me and god.

“I later explained to the man and he understood, but those on the mission of disturbing my works misquoted me and started throwing insults at me saying I am crazy and not god.

“I just ignore them because I realised they were throwing their insults directing them at Given Dube,” he said.

On marriage, Dube made it clear that it was not for human beings to understand, but only known by the holy spirit. Dube grew up in Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb and is a former member of Guta Ra Mwari. He launched his church Umuzi kaNkulunkulu in 2008 and his parents also moved from their church to join him.

He claims to have other church branches in South Africa and the United States of America. Dube made it clear that he was not a prophet, but god who created heaven and earth who even today commands different things to happen.

“I command, I can stop diseases and wars in the world or even command them to happen. This is a different belief from Christians who are still waiting for the coming of Jesus, I am already here,” he declared.

Dube, unlike pastors and prophets, says he does not have bodyguards and emphasises that Jesus’ chance came and passed as he returned to Heaven, but it is now god himself talking to his people.

Dube revealed that he was not the first god as there were some who were once used by the spirit, the first one being the founder of Guta RaJehova, then after her death, the founder of Guta RaMwari and after his death it was now him, the founder of Umuzi kaNkulunkulu.

It is said that when the chosen person dies, the spirit picks a new host and when congregants do not believe it is the spirit’s choice, it always leads god to open a new branch where he will have those who obey his word.
